1. Introduction

Welcome to the website of AstroChiropractic (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Website Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and the online booking facility. By using the website or completing a booking, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use our website or proceed with a booking.

2. Our Services & Booking

  • You may use our website to book an appointment at our clinic(s).
  • Payment for appointments is due at the time of your visit at the clinic (via cash, EFTPOS, or bank transfer if invoiced).
  • Once you submit a booking request via the website, we will confirm your appointment date/time via our usual process.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments (for example due to unforeseen circumstances, practitioner availability, or clinic closure). If we do so, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.

3. Cancellation Policy

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice prior to your scheduled appointment time.
  • Late changes made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a $35 late change fee.
  • Failure to attend your appointment without notice (“no-show”) may incur a $60 fee.
  • We understand that unforeseen or urgent circumstances can occur. In such cases, please contact us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • If AstroChiropractic needs to cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than reasonable notice, we will offer a suitable alternative time or a refund of any pre-payment.

4. Disclaimer & Scope of Chiropractic Care

  • All chiropractors at AstroChiropractic are registered under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act), hold current practising certificates, and provide care within their authorised scope of practice.
  • Chiropractic care aims to improve spinal and nervous system function to support overall health. While many patients experience positive results, individual outcomes vary and results cannot be guaranteed.
  • Your chiropractor will explain the nature of proposed treatment, expected benefits, reasonably foreseeable risks, and available alternatives, in line with the HPCA Act and the Chiropractic Board of New Zealand’s Informed Consent Guidelines.
  • Chiropractic adjustments and manual therapy are generally safe, but as with any health care intervention, there are risks:
    • Common, mild side effects: temporary soreness, stiffness, fatigue.
    • Rare, serious risks: nerve or blood vessel injury, and in extremely rare cases, stroke or stroke-like symptoms following neck adjustments.
  • Chiropractic care is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. If your condition requires medical attention beyond chiropractic care, your chiropractor will refer you to an appropriate health professional.
  • By proceeding with care, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to discuss the treatment, understand the risks, and provide informed consent in accordance with the HPCA Act and Board guidelines.

4A. Patient Rights

  • Under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, you have the right to:
    • Ask questions and receive clear information about your chiropractor, their qualifications, and the care you are receiving.
    • Be fully informed about the risks, benefits, and alternatives of treatment so you can give or withhold consent.
    • Raise concerns or complaints if you believe your chiropractor is practising below the required standard of competence or not acting within their scope of practice.
    • Access your personal health records and request corrections if necessary, in accordance with our privacy policy and the Act.
  • Any concerns or complaints can be raised directly with AstroChiropractic or with the Chiropractic Board of New Zealand, who oversee professional standards and public safety.

5. Privacy & Use of Your Information

  • We collect personal information (such as your name, contact details, and health history) to provide our services. We handle your personal information in accordance with New Zealand privacy legislation and our privacy policy.
  • Your information will be stored securely, used only for the purpose of providing chiropractic care, invoicing, and clinic administration, and only shared with other providers or parties if required by law or with your consent.
  • We retain clinical records and treatment notes in line with the Chiropractic Board’s guidelines on clinical record-keeping.
  • If you wish to access or correct your personal information, please contact us.
